The arrival of Caetlin

Caetlin is here! And she was on time! Now here and her Auntie Theresa can start a I was born on my due date club. =]

So all day Monday, 9/28, I was having fairly regular contractions. At 9pm I was pretty sure I was in labor for real. So Mina went to Nana's house for a super fun sleepover. Tim & I headed back home to wait for my contractions to be closer together and to make sure the didn't stop like on Saturday. So we made it back home and Tim fell asleep for a whole 30 minutes before I woke him up saying my contractions were 8 minutes apart and I kinda felt like pushing. He was out of bed so quick it was hilarious.
So we got to the hospital around midnight and got checked out, my contracts were a little bit irregular but I was 5 cm dilated. So they invited me to stay and have a baby. Yeah! It wasn't false labor! AGAIN!
So everything was good and the contractions weren't bad.
At 3 am they checked me again and I was 8 cm dilated!
So around 5 am they checked me again and I still at 8 cm.
But I had been having really bad back labor for a couple hours now and was very discouraged since nothing had been progressing. I decided I wanted a little something to take the edge off. So I got a dose of fentynal and was able to sleep for about 40 minutes. When I woke up my contractions were super intense and I really felt like I needed to push. So they checked me again. Still 8 cm. And I was still having horrible back labor. So Tim was so sweet and started massaging my back and he ended up doing it for the next 2 hours practically non-stop. At 8 am I was still 8 cm! I was so upset! They wanted to break my water and see if they could hurry things up but I was so tired, disheartened at my lack of progress and nearing the end of my pain tolerance. The new nurse midwife came on and suggested that I have another dose of fentynal and rest and when I woke up they would break my water and see if the could get me to finish dilating. So I rested and when the drugs were off they checked me again. I was at 9 cm and while the nurse was checking me my water broke. Hooray I was almost done! So I really felt like I needed to push but they told me not to. So I tired not to. That lasted for like a whole 10 minutes. So the nurse came back and I was not quite 10 but I couldn't not push anymore. So I started pushing. 3 pushes and Caetlin was starting to crown. The midwife came running in and I had Caetlin out in under five minutes.
It was kinda scary at first because she wasn't breathing but she was awake so they nurses started rubbing her with towels while she was on my chest and after 30 seconds she started crying. And she was breathing but she was still purple. Tim cut her cord and the nurse took her over to the warmer to give her some oxygen. When her color was better they brought her back to me and I nursed her for 30 minutes. She totally got the hang of that in like 3 seconds.
She is a very enthusiastic little eater.
So everyone is home now and doing good. Thanks for all the love everyone!

She woke up from her nap, walked to the doorway in my room said "I wake up Mommy." Laid down and went back to sleep on the floor. I guess she wasn't really ready to be awake.

Our sort of exciting weekend

So once again Caet was thinking about being born but decided against it. We were working in the garden and I started having some really strong contractions. Problem is they got further apart instead of closer together.
Of course I got so stressed out and upset. I'm ready to get this kid out. Nana watched Mina on Saturday night. & I guess they had a pretty good time. I did not get a letter grade but Papa said she was fine. She told me last night "My slept on Nana's loveseat. My missed you Mama. My sleep in your bed tonight!" Sorry kid it was sweet and all but there's no room for you. But she did come and cuddly with me this morning. I think we slept for another hour and a half. It was nice. I've been super tired.

I have a few cute new pics and will post them later. Right now I have to jump in the shower and fix Tim some lunch before he gets home in oh, 14 minutes. Ciao!

Two Year Anniversary

Tim and I have been married 2 years today. Hooray for us! It hasn't felt very long at all. But then again I can't really remember being without him. We were married on a Friday. That's a really random fact but I remember it very clearly so I thought I'd throw that out there.

More Shower Pics

Mina got some good gifts too. Like a giant Mr. Potato Head stuffed with parts!

Tim's beach birthday

Yesterday was Tim's 24th birthday. We had a really nice day. We went out to breakfast at O.D.'s Kitchen with my sister and Grandma Becky. Then we had down towards Monterey to drop Kelsey back off at school and swing by the beach. We ended up at Sand Dollar Beach. The weather was nice and the beach was beautiful. The water was cold but Tim went in anyways. Crazy, I know. He also built a sand castle while Mina & my sister Kelsey collected shells. Too bad he built it too close to the waves. Twice. Mina had a blast hanging with her Auntie Kelsey & exploring. She got knocked down by a wave but it didn't slow her down a bit. She loved letting the water "get' her toes. As beautiful as the beach was, it is kind of difficult to get to. You have to park in a residential area & walk down this steep hill to a set of steps. Unfortunately for me Sand Dollar is not a public beach. Aka no public bathrooms. So my Grandma Becky & I had to walk about an 1/8 of a mile across the beach to the Manresa State beach entrance & climb those stair to get to a bathroom. Then we had to hike back to the car. So I got plenty of exercise.

The water was pretty darn cold but Tim jumped in anyways. It lasted for a whole 10 seconds.
Mina & Auntie Kelsey found some really pretty shells & sand dollars.
Looking for shells.
The magnificent castle my wonderful husband built. "For Mina" ;)

Yoga Mina

Tim has been doing some yoga stretches to help his back out & he decided to do some today on his lunch break. Well Mina figured if Daddy was doing it, it must be fun & she was going to do it too. Yep what a cute little goose.

21 days until D-day.

My amazingly clean carpets. Tim is my hero.

So it's almost time to have this dang kid. I hope time doesn't slow down. My back & her legs are killing me! Hopefully it won't be too much longer. We have just about everything ready for her. Her crib has been set up for ages and all of her clothes are in the dresser. There are about 300 diapers stashed under her crib & now the carpets are clean (thanks to my super wonderful hubby) & the car seat is installed. The house is so super duper clean. There are a few piles of clutter left but not too many. The only thing I really have left is to finish packing the hospital bag. I need to throw in toothbrushes, a hairbrush, deodorant, and pants. Oh and we have to figure out what to do with Mina. Anyone want her? Just kidding. She is going to be my big helper. I hope.

And of course it would be nice to have the shower first but that is in 5 days and I'm pretty sure she'll wait that long. Actually I need to finish getting things ready for that. Ugh. I wish people would RSVP. It would make my life a hell of a lot easier. Oh well. Not like I'm busy or anything.

Mina & I are planning on doing some laundry, picking up the living room, making lunch & maybe walking to go see Daddy & then it off to the library to find out why you get candy on Halloween. Yeah her new favorite word is WHY? I have a feeling we will be learning all sorts on fun facts.

Reading a story

This is like the funniest video I've shot in a long time. I was trying to get Mina to nap so I told her I would read her 3 books. Well after the third book she decided that she still wasn't ready to sleep so she told me she was going to read by herself. I had to get the camera after hearing her "read" the book.
Here are some cute pics from lunchtime today.

36 week dr. appt.

It's Caetlin!
I asked for a pic but it's not a very good one. She was so not cooperating. It's her forehead, eye, nose and hand. I think she was sucking or trying to suck on her fist.
Also her Nana thinks she is going to be bald. Sad thing is she probably will be. She might have some fuzz like Mina did but it will probably all fall out like Mina's! Quick everyone buy her a cute hat! =]

We just got back from the Dr.'s a little bit ago. Everything is good! I only gained half a pound! Which is kind of amazing since I've eaten like a pound of peanut M&M's in the past 24 hours. Ugh. That makes me kinda sad to type. I'm totally craving chocolate big time. In fact I'm kinda thinking of making some chocolate chip cookies tonight. Yum.

So I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions lately. My Dr. said it's very common for a second time mom to be having contractions like I am & I am not dilated but I am a little bit effaced. But even if Caet was born now she would most likely be just fine. Which makes me feel a lot better. I was kinda worried a little bit that I would have her now and have to leave her in the hospital for weeks.

We had an ultrasound to make sure she was head down. I've known for about a month that she is since her little toes have been in my ribs and lungs and she been kicking my poor stomach. Caet was putting on quite the little gymnastics show for the Dr. during the ultrasound. She somehow managed to get her foot up next to her face. Crazy kid. But my belly was doing the wave before she even started and then Caetlin demonstrated how she is a very good stretcher on the screen. The Dr. was like "Oh my, she is very strong"! No kidding. My poor poor organs. They are no match for her.

36 weeks pregnant with Caetlin. (Not too much longer!)
35 weeks pregnant with Mina.
I think I was way bigger than I am now.
(It's not a very good pic but for comparison purposes it will do.)
